What is the structure of the spinal cord?

The spinal cord is an elongated cord that originates at the occipital foramen of the skull, in which it is connected to the brain, and ends in the lumbar spine, where the sinus forms. The spinal cord is enclosed in the spinal column. In its center passes the spinal canal, which is surrounded by gray matter (neurons, looks like a butterfly). The gray matter is surrounded by white, which consists of bundles of nerve cell processes. These bundles create ascending and descending pathways, and connect the brain and spinal cord.
