The tradition of mummification of the deceased originated in ancient Egypt. According to the religion of the Egyptians, the human soul consisted of two parts. One of them, after the death of a person, flew into the heavens to the stars, and the second continued to exist in the shell of the body. For this, the mummification operation was used – in order to preserve the vessel for the second part of the soul and not cause its revenge.
