In 1827, the British scientist Robert Brown observed a suspension of plant pollen and water under a microscope. He discovered that the particles are in continuous chaotic motion and constantly collide with each other.
This experiment proves the validity of one of the main provisions of the molecular kinetic theory – atoms and molecules are in continuous chaotic motion.
