A weak acid is an acid that is partially dissociated into its ions in aqueous solution or water. At the same concentration, weak acids have a higher pH value than strong ones.
Weak acids are much more common than strong acids. For example, they are found in everyday life in acetic acid (vinegar) and citric acid (lemon juice). Acetic acid is a typical weak acid. It is partially ionized in its CH₃COOH solution.
