There cannot be a single and correct assessment in this matter because there are many faces there. Let’s look at examples:

1. The economy of the USSR was going through not the best time. There was no production of new products that could compete with similar samples. Example: a VCR was more expensive than a Soviet-made car.

2. Gorbachev got all the obligations and imperial ambitions of the USSR. This country fed the many countries it needed for parity and ambition.

3. Afghan War. Thanks to her, the USSR became an outcast. The pressure on him from the developed economies has increased.

4. But Gorbachev wanted to bring the country out of stagnation. There was a TV program called “Searchlight of Perestroika”, where plebeians could get on the air with the most tricky questions right on the street. Reforms were carried out. The old nomenklatura resisted him and all the facts that were stated above hindered him.

All this led to the collapse of the USSR.
