This device is called a pointing device mouse. The first computer mouse was invented in 1968 by the American scientist Douglas Engelbart. The very first computer that included a mouse was introduced in 1981.

According to their functional purposes, mice can be divided into several classes: some are intended for games, others are for ordinary work, and still others are for drawing in graphic editors.

By design, mice are classified into:

* trackball mouse;

* induction;

* gyroscopic.

Each type of mouse appeared at a different time and uses different laws of physics. Currently, the most popular are optical and laser mice.
