What kind of life does the lancelet lead?

Lancelet is a multicellular chordate animal. Length up to 8 cm. Inhabits the clean sandy bottom of warm seas and oceans. Prefers a depth of up to 30 m. The lifestyle is passive. It burrows into loose soil almost completely, leaving only the front part of the body. Or just lying at the bottom. Can move a short distance and lie down again. It feeds on plankton without effort. Driven by cilia, food is absorbed by the mouth opening. Lancelet are colonial animals. The colony may number about ten thousand individuals.
