What limits the amount of photosynthetic tissue in a plant?

Chloroplasts are responsible for photosynthesis. It is their number that limits plants to photosynthesis. In conditions where there is enough sunlight, water and carbon dioxide, there will be many chloroplasts in plant cells. They can reach up to hundreds in one cell. The more of these organelles, the more glucose the plant can synthesize. If there are too many of these organelles, then they will be destroyed by lysosomes and other organelles responsible for this. This happens with the help of special digestive enzymes and acids.
