What made the Persian army strong?

The Persian army was one of the most powerful armies of antiquity.

The entire army was divided into infantry and cavalry, and there were also chariots with sickles.

The infantry had a variety of weapons (swords, daggers, hatchets, spears), but the bow was the deadliest (for the cavalry too). The cavalry was light and heavy. The light cavalry harassed the enemy from a distance with arrows, and the heavy cavalry delivered a crushing blow to the enemy.

The Persian army also had engineering units as well as siege weapons.
