What mass of oxide is formed by the interaction of Al with 112l O containing 20% impurities.

The equation of the proceeding reaction: 4Al + 3O2 = 2Al2O3.

1) Find the volume of impurities in oxygen. To do this, multiply the volume of oxygen by the percentage of impurities and divide by one hundred percent: 112 * 20/100 = 22.4 liters.
2) Find the mass of pure oxygen substance: 112 – 22.4 = 89.6 liters.
3) The amount of oxygen substance: 89.6 / 22.4 = 4 mol.
4) According to the reaction equation, there are two moles of aluminum oxide for three moles of oxygen. This means that the amount of oxide substance is: 3 * 4/2 = 6 mol.
5) The mass of aluminum oxide is: 6 * 102 = 612g – the answer.
