What natural area does the bison live in in North America?

Bison were found in North America almost throughout its territory until the 18th century. But due to the uncontrolled hunt of people for them for the sake of meat and skin production, the habitat of bison has significantly decreased. The natural habitat of these animals is the steppe and prairies for the steppe bison, and forests and mountains for the rare species of forest bison. Bison now live mainly in national parks and reserves. Sometimes they are grown on farms, crossed with cows.
