What organisms do not have true roots?

Despite the fact that most of the plants, like fungi and lichens, are attached to the surface with the help of root-like formations, only higher vascular plants have real roots. Roots are absent both in plants such as mosses and algae, and in symbiotic organisms – lichens. All of them form filamentous rhizoids instead of roots. Mushrooms are another immobile living thing that has no roots. Under the ground is the mycelium of the fungus, which looks like roots, but is not.
