What organs are involved in the formation of speech?

Three groups of organs perform the main functions in the act of speech: a breathing apparatus that provides the required amount of air; the larynx is a vibrating organ; the pharynx and mouth, where articulation itself is carried out by changing the shape of the vocal tract. Speech occurs mainly due to the movements of the lips, tongue, soft palate (the lowering of which includes an additional cavity, nasal fossae) and the lower jaw. The sounds produced in this way are divided into two categories: vowels and consonants, taking into account the possible presence of an obstacle in the path of air passage.
