What peoples live in the taiga?

In the taiga zone of modern Russia, before the arrival of the Slavic tribes, lived mainly Ugrofin tribes (in the western part) and the peoples of the Altai group (in the central part and in the eastern territories). Among the Ugrofin tribes of the taiga, the Khanty and Mansi should be mentioned, who were mainly engaged in hunting and reindeer herding. In the east, the Evenks (formerly called Tungus), as well as the Yakuts, lived and continue to live. The Sami live on the territory of the Karelian Peninsula in the taiga zone, which can also be found in Finland.
