What period in modern chronology is understood by the term Middle Ages?

In modern chronology, there is no consensus about the date of the beginning and end of the Middle Ages. Some scholars consider the beginning of the Middle Ages the collapse of the Western Roman Empire, which occurred on September 4, 476. In UNESCO, the beginning of this period is considered the emergence of Islam, which is attributed to the 7th century. The fall of Constantinople in 1453, the Battle of Pavia in 1525, and the Peace of Westphalia in 1648 are considered the end of the Middle Ages. Some scholars consider the first decade of the 18th century to be the end of the Middle Ages. But everyone agrees that this period was preceded by Antiquity, and after it came the New Time.
