What philosopher tried to combine faith and reason?

The medieval philosopher and theologian Thomas Aquinas (1225/26 – 1274) tried to unite faith and reason. It was he who introduced the concept of “rational soul” or spirit, considering “rational soul” to be the highest of human abilities, since it is due to intelligence that the human soul is immortal, while the souls of animals perish after the body. Reason here is the quality of the divine. Thus, Thomas Aquinas combined the Christian concept of the soul and the doctrine of the mind of the ancient Greek philosophers.
