What plants and how do they adapt to the harsh conditions of the tundra?

In the tundra, the weather conditions are quite cold. Summers are wet, cold and short, while winters are harsh and long. There are practically no trees in the tundra, most of the plants are herbaceous, but there are also shrubs and various mosses. All of these plants are able to withstand strong temperature fluctuations. One of the adaptations of plants to such weather is a non-branched root system, because the soil does not warm up well. There are no tall plants in the tundra, because with the arrival of land, those plants that are covered with snow survive, forming a kind of “pillow”, protecting them until it gets warmer.
