What plants did ferns originate from?

Ferns are very ancient plants that appeared on our planet about 405 million years ago. They exist in our time. It is assumed that ferns appeared during the evolution of green algae. Their distribution method is the same – both are spread by disputes. But of course the appearance of ferns did not happen overnight. It was a very long period of algae mutations, their emergence on land and their improvement in the course of the struggle for existence with other organisms.
