What plants have adapted to the harsh conditions of the tundra?

It only seems that the tundra is cold, snowy, windy all year round and nothing grows. In fact, as soon as the sun warms up the earth a little and the temperature approaches 10 degrees Celsius, the tundra blooms.

The flora of the tundra is represented mainly by lichens, mosses, grasses and stunted trees. You will melt lichens by only a few millimeters in a year.

Dwarf birch, polar willow and northern alder grow on the slopes of the hills. Their height is rarely more than half a meter.

Berries also grow in the tundra – lingonberry, blueberry, juniper. Moreover, in terms of their vitamin composition, these berries significantly surpass those grown on the mainland.

Mushrooms, boletus mushrooms grown in the tundra do not rot.
