What processes take place in the small intestine?

The intestines are an integral part of the body involved in digestion. It is divided into small and large intestines. In turn, in the small intestine, depending on the functions performed, three parts are distinguished. The first is the duodenum. The ducts of the pancreas and the gallbladder open into it, and there is an active breakdown of food: proteins, carbohydrates, fats. The next section is the small intestine, it is the longest and has several loops. It absorbs digested food, also moves these substances, and hydrolysis of polymers occurs. And the last section is the ileum. In it, further absorption of hydrolysis products, processing of bile acid occurs.
