The turnstile operation is based on several properties of light. First property: photo effect. The photons of light hit a special surface of the sensor called a photocell. Under these shocks, an electric current is generated in the internal structure of the photocell, which flows into the system controlling the turnstile operation. In this case, the turnstile is open.
Second property: straightness of light propagation. If you block the infrared light beam invisible to humans, a shadow is formed on the photocell of the sensor. The electric current in the control system of the turnstile disappears. And the turnstile is blocked.
