What role did the Panhellenic Union play for Greece and Macedonia?

During the time of the Greco-Persian wars (5-4 centuries BC), the question of repelling enemy attacks became acute, thus the Peloponnesian Union appeared. He united the common efforts of the policies that were located on the Peloponnese peninsula, later the union became Pan-Greek, this already included other policies, except for the warring Argos with Sparta. But with the Macedonians, the Greeks concluded the Corinthian Alliance in the winter of 338-337, which implied general military mutual assistance in the war against Persia.
