The American government considered the entire continent as its area of ​​responsibility: both South America and North America. Therefore, the United States was considered necessary and appropriate to interfere in all spheres of activity of the states of Latin America. It was the Americans who invested most of the total capital in the economy. At the same time, they developed only those areas of the economy that were required specifically for American citizens: agriculture, transport, mining, tourism. Some countries even had a specialization and, in fact, did not produce anything except bananas or oranges. This is how the term “banana republic” appeared.
