What rules for adding vectors do you know?

There are three ways to add vectors:

1. The rule of the triangle.

It is necessary to position the vectors so that the beginning of one vector coincides with the end of the second. Then the vector connecting them into a triangle will be the sum of two vectors.

2. Rule of a parallelogram.

This method is suitable if the vectors come from a single point. After completing the “corner” to the parallelogram and drawing a diagonal from the starting point, we get the required vector of the sum of two vectors.

3. Rule of the polygon.

The simplest method. Each vector is laid down sequentially one after another (the end of one of them is the beginning of the other), and the vector connecting the beginning of the first and the end of the last will be their sum. This method can be used to add n number of vectors.

Important! In physics, you can add only vectors that have the same dimension. We can add speed to speed, force to force, but we have no right to add the velocity vector to the force vector.
