What sciences were studied at a medieval university?

The first universities appeared in the Middle Ages in the largest cities of Western Europe. They were formed on the basis of church schools and were part of the system of spiritual education. The structure of universities usually included four faculties: theological, artistic, medical and law faculties. At first, the functioning of universities, teaching consisted of mastering seven sciences: grammar, rhetoric, logic, arithmetic, geometry, music and astronomy.
