What separates the outer ear from the middle ear?

The outer ear consists of a concha and the external auditory canal (canal). Their function is simply to direct and conduct sound to the middle ear, which is already directly capable of translating sound into those vibrations that the inner ear and brain recognize. There is a thin tympanic membrane on the border between the outer and middle ear. From the inside (from the side of the middle ear), bones are attached to it, which transmit vibrations further. In the event of injury, severe infections, the eardrum can rupture, leading to hearing impairment.
