What stages do animals go through during development with metamorphosis?

Metamorphosis is a complex modification of the body structure, as a result of which the larval stage is transformed into an adult (imago).
Organisms that have a life cycle with complete transformation (metamorphosis) go through 4 stages: 1) an egg, 2) a larva (intensively feeds, increases in size, then turns into a motionless pupa, 3) a pupa (at this stage, processes of tissue reorganization and organs of the larva, from which the adult then emerges), 4) the adult (imago).
