What state will mercury be in at a temperature of -50 degrees?

A substance can be in one of three states of aggregation – solid, liquid or gaseous. The conditions for the transition from one state to another are individual for each substance. Mercury freezes at -38.9 ℃, so at -50 ℃ mercury will be solid.

The problem statement does not say in which measurement system the temperature is indicated – in Celsius or Fahrenheit. By default, we assumed that the specified temperature is Celsius. If the temperature is indicated in Fahrenheit, then -50 Fahrenheit is about -45 Celsius, which means that in this case the mercury will be in a solid state.
