What strata of the population were against the abolition of serfdom? why?

Many landowners and the upper strata of the population opposed the abolition of serfdom. The fact is that peasant labor, although ineffective, is free. The privileged strata of the population, after losing control over the peasants, would have to hire the working class, whose representatives would have to pay wages. Some representatives of the peasantry also reacted negatively to this reform, since the landowner, in spite of the fact that he demands to do the work, gives protection and a small piece of land to his personal inheritance.
