What substance forms the cell wall of plants?

The cell wall of plants consists of three layers: the outer one, which is formed by polysaccharides, namely pectins; intermediate, which, in addition to pectins, contains cellulose fibers; and the innermost layer – the hardest – that contains lignin (the substance that makes the cell wall stronger).
