What territory did the Byzantine Empire occupy?

At an early stage in its history (mid-6th century), Byzantium occupied territories from Armenia and the Dead Sea in the east to Morocco in the west, including parts of modern Italy and Spain, as well as the Balkans and Crimea and lands along the Danube in Europe.
By the X-XI centuries, her possessions were reduced to the Balkan Peninsula and part of the territory of modern Turkey, plus the southern coast of Crimea.
After the capture of Constantinople by the crusaders in 1204, Byzantium weakened even more and in the first half of the 15th century it decreased to the size of a part of eastern Thrace (near Constantinople) and certain territories in Greece, for example, Morea.
