What theory has generalized knowledge about the inheritance of traits in organisms?

Mendel noticed hereditary traits that are passed from parental organisms to offspring. He began to study this issue and put forward the theory that organisms contain information that is passed on to offspring and some of the characteristics of parents are manifested in children. At that time, it was still unknown about the existence of DNA and its functions. But thanks to the observations of Mendel and his theories, he is considered the father of genetics as a separate science.
