What tissue supports plant growth?

Meristic tissues produce cells that rapidly differentiate or specialize and become permanent tissues. Such cells take on certain roles and lose the ability to divide further. They differ into three main types: dermal, vascular, and ground. The dermal tissue covers and protects the plant, while the vascular tissue carries water, minerals and sugars to different parts of the plant. The soil tissue serves as a site for photosynthesis, provides a support matrix for vascular tissue, and helps store water and sugars.
