What tissues are most sensitive to the effects of radiation? Why?

For living organisms, radiation is dangerous because it leads to the appearance of mutations in DNA, and, as a consequence, to the collection of defective proteins.

Radiation poses the greatest danger to organs and tissues, whose cells are actively dividing: epithelial (it is the skin that takes the “hit” first), blood cells, genitals. The more often such cells divide, the more defective cells appear, and over time, the tissue or organ ceases to fully perform its functions, which can lead to the death of the organism. Mutations in the germ cells will lead to the fact that the offspring may be unhealthy.
