What types of membranes are there?

The cell membrane is an essential component of any cell. Its role, first of all, is to delimit the inner space of the cell from the external environment, and in eukaryotes, in addition, to divide the inner part of the cell into functionally important compartments: the nucleus and mitochonodria. Transport proteins and receptors function in the outer cell membrane (cytolema). The structural basis of all membranes is lipids, in particular phospholipids, represented by two compounds phosphodiacylglycyrins and sphingomyelins.
