Views: numeric, named, and linear.

Numerical scale – scale expressed as a fraction, where the numerator is one, and the denominator is a number showing how many times the map is reduced.

Example:

1: 100,000; 1: 5,000; 1: 1,000,000.

Named scale – a scale in which words indicate what distance on the ground corresponds to 1 cm on the map.

Example:

in 1 cm – 1,000 m; in 1 cm – 50 m; in 1 cm – 10,000 m.

Linear scale – looks like a ruler that simplifies measurements on the map.
