What was good about raising Spartan boys? What can cause your judgment?

The Spartan upbringing was very harsh. Boys were raised separately from girls and went through grueling training and dangerous ordeals. At the age of 16, an initiation rite was performed, which included emasculation, after which the boy was considered a man. According to statistics from Herodotus, 30% of boys, as a result of such upbringing, did not live up to adulthood. The positive side of the Spartan upbringing is that the Spartans turned out to be ideal warriors without the fear of death. They knew how to handle a spear, crossbow and two-handed sword and protected Sparta from any invaders.
