What was the attitude towards the war in various strata of Soviet society? and in the international community?

The Soviet government decided to send troops to Afghanistan in order to gain influence there. The society of the USSR did not share the views of the authorities, opposed the war, since the war could negatively affect the standard of living in the country (it demanded expenses). Western countries used the launched hostilities to attack the USSR. The countries of Europe believed that the USSR, with the help of these military actions, was seeking to reach the seas, to expand its influence in Asia.
