What was the composition of the population in the Middle Ages?

In the Middle Ages, agriculture was the main occupation of the population. This meant that most of the country’s inhabitants were peasants. The economy, the main direction of which was agriculture, was natural. They lived mainly in villages, the urban population constituted a small percentage of all residents. There were also nobles, for example, nobles who served under the ruler. The boyars were the closest to the government: they had privileges. There were artisans who lived in cities. Merchants also lived in cities, the direction of their activity is trade.
