What was the government in ancient Rome?

The rule in ancient Rome belonged to the king. Although 3 periods of government are known: monarchy (king), republic and empire. The founder of the kings was Rem. There were 7 kings in total who ruled Rome. During the reign of the princess, they tried to subjugate all of Rome. However, they did not succeed, after which the Board of the Republic was established, where there was a Senate and consultations. And after Octavian Augustus took power into his own hands, the Empire was established.
