What was the meaning of the new economic policy and what determined the need for the transition to NEP.

Since 1917, after the abdication of the tsar and the accession of the Provisional Government, the situation in the country worsened. A civil war was brewing between the citizens. The economy fell into disrepair during the First World War. The position of peasants and wage workers was extremely explosive. The pace of economic development slowed down. For these and many reasons, the Soviet leadership decided to introduce a temporary NEP policy. Thanks to the NEP, elements of a market economy appeared in the country, and the economy was restored. Trade and manufacturing also began to grow.
