What was the name of tax collectors in ancient Egypt?

The office of collecting taxes belonged to scribes. These educated people could control the collection of taxes. They were in charge of the selection committee during the harvest. Pharaohs and nobles appointed them to these positions. The taxes that the scribes received were in kind. People had to bring a certain rate of various products produced on their own farm or in the master’s fields. The scribes themselves did not pay taxes. They were in a privileged group of the population, as they performed government work.
