What was the name of the building in ancient Greece where the competition was held?

This place was called a stadium (stadium). It was in ancient Greece, around the 8th century BC, that sports competitions arose, which were called the Olympic Games. They got this name because of the city where the competitions were held – Olympia. So every four years in Greece there were big games in which all the policies took part. The winners of the competition were erected statues in their native city.
