In 4 thousand BC. Egypt was divided into two warring states – Lower and Upper Egypt. The Egyptians themselves called their state Kmt “Kemet”, which means “black land”. In 3050 BC. the warring kingdoms were united. Thus, a single Egyptian kingdom was created with its capital in the city of Memphis. The first ruler of this state was Tsar Menes.
