What was the position and influence of the Old Russian state in the modern world?

In the period from the 10th to the 12th century, Kievan Rus was a very powerful and influential state, some historians call it an empire (because of the large territories that it occupied). In fact, Russia was the largest European state, its territories stretched from the Black Sea to the northern Dvina, and many tribes were also subordinate to it. At that time, Rus was also the center of trade in eastern Europe.
