What was the position of scholars in Arab society?

The Arab society was characterized by a special reverence for science and education. The 9th-12th centuries were marked by the flourishing of science in the Arab countries. Baghdad during this period was a major world scientific center. Scientists enjoyed special privileges in the Caliphate. The rulers in every possible way contributed to the development of scientific knowledge: the opening of libraries, academies, observatories, etc. Many scientists were advisers to the Caliph himself.
