What was the purpose of the folklore expedition of Khamit Ergaliev?

Khamit Ergaliev was interested in the traditional folk culture of the Kazakh people and described it in his literary works. He was fond of the creativity of Kazakh poets-improvisers who sang their poems under the instrumental accompaniment of their dombra and komuz, as well as the art of the competition of akyns – aitys. During folk expeditions, he recorded Kurmangazy’s kyuis (plays for dombra).
Khamit Ergaliev wrote a book about the legendary Kazakh folk author of kyuis – Kurmangazy Sagyrbaev, and in his work “Songs at the Dawn” – introduces us to the work of the modern Kazakh composer Akhmet Zhubanov, who was engaged in the processing of folk songs and kyuis
