What was the reason for the division of the territory of the Korean Peninsula into two states at one time?

The Korean Peninsula was divided into two states following the Korean War. The reason for the partition was that during the Second World War, the USSR and the United States invaded the peninsula from the north and south, respectively, in order to liberate Korea from Japan. After the war, they strengthened their influence in these regions and created two ideologically different countries (in the north, the communists established themselves, and in the south, the capitalists). A conflict arose between the parties, in which the USSR, the USA and other countries also actively participated.
