What was the Roman family like?

During the heyday of the Romans, the family was the main unit of the state and society. The family was legalized at the state level. Almost every family had its own patron god. The Romans had a fairly tough patriarchy. The main man in the family decided all the issues. He could even kill his wife or child. But over time, such powers were leveled.
