They were all Catholic.
Until 800, there were only kings, then the emperor Charlemagne appeared, and from 962 the Holy Roman Empire was created.
They experienced raids by the Vikings (from the middle of the 8th century) and Arabs (except England and northern France).
They all took part in the crusades.
They had universities early (from the XII-XIII centuries) and parliaments (England and France, from 1215 and 1300).
Developed feudalism, many castles were built.
They suffered from similar troubles: plague epidemics, heresies, popular uprisings.
